Explore Longview Together: A Family Scavenger Hunt
At New Rhythms Therapeutic Center, we believe caring for people also means caring about the community they call home.
Longview is more than the place where we work. It is our community, and both of NRTC’s owners are involved in helping it thrive. Katie serves on the Keep Longview Beautiful board, and Megan serves on the Downtown Longview board. Through those roles—and through our work at New Rhythms—we get to see just how much there is to appreciate about the place we live.
So, we thought: why not make an adventure out of it?
We created the Downtown Longview Time Travelers Family Scavenger Hunt as a simple way for families, friends, or even a couple of curious adults to get outside, spend time together, and notice some of the history, nature, art, and people that make Longview Longview.
The scavenger hunt sends you exploring Downtown Longview and the Gregg County Historical Museum. You'll hunt for historical markers and public art, notice interesting architecture and pieces of Longview's past, talk with longtime residents and local business owners, and even earn bonus points for picking up litter along the way. Your final mission is to take a team photo at your favorite place downtown.
There is no perfect way to complete it. Wander. Get distracted. Stop somewhere that looks interesting. Ask questions. Let your kids lead the way for a while. The point isn't really the score—although earning the title of Official Longview Time Traveler is pretty great.
At NRTC, we're dedicated to serving our community both inside and outside the counseling room. Sometimes strengthening connection looks like therapy. And sometimes it looks like spending an afternoon together discovering something you never knew about the town you've driven through a thousand times.
Grab your scavenger hunt, gather your team, and go explore Longview.
